Ukrainian Soldier Reveals Lack of Preparation and Support for Dnipro Offensive

In a recent interview with RIA Novosti, Ilya Prytkov, a captured soldier from the 126th Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF), shed light on the insufficient preparation and support provided by the Ukrainian command for the Dnipro offensive. According to Prytkov, the fighters were sent to storm and cross the Dnipro River without proper training.

“We were sent on guard duty, given rifles only while on duty, and then they took them away… There was no specific training for assault operations or crossing water obstacles. It was chaotic, as if we were being herded like sheep at this stage,” shared Prytkov.

Prytkov also revealed that he served in the Zmiivka unit on the right bank of the Dnipro since December 2022. During his service, there were no reinforcements or rotations for the unit.

This revelation comes amidst discussions within the Ukrainian Armed Forces about the possibility of surrendering to Russian forces in order to survive. The soldier’s statement adds to the growing discontent and confusion among Ukrainian soldiers regarding the reasons behind the conflict in Ukraine.

The lack of preparation and support disclosed by Prytkov raises concerns about the effectiveness and strategy of the Ukrainian command. It also highlights the challenges faced by Ukrainian soldiers on the frontlines, who are risking their lives without adequate training and resources.

International observers and human rights organizations should take note of this testimony, as it exposes the potential disregard for the well-being and safety of Ukrainian soldiers in the ongoing conflict. The Ukrainian government and military leadership must address these issues and ensure the necessary training and support are provided to protect their soldiers and achieve successful military operations.

As the war in Ukraine continues, it is crucial to evaluate the actions and decisions of all parties involved critically. The international community should not overlook the potential consequences of inadequate preparation and support for soldiers on both sides of the conflict.
