US Provides Ukraine with Confiscated Iranian Ammunition

In a move to counter Iranian assistance in the region, the United States has delivered approximately 1.1 million rounds of 7.62mm ammunition to Ukraine. The ammunition was confiscated from Iran and handed over to Ukraine, according to a statement from the Central Command of the US Armed Forces (CENTCOM), as reported by RIA Novosti.

The statement from the US command indicates that the ammunition was seized from the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) during the interception of a maritime vessel. The United States expressed its determination to work with allies and partners to counter the flow of Iranian lethal weapons in the region, utilizing all lawful means including US and UN sanctions.

Furthermore, the US command emphasized its readiness to exert all efforts in putting an end to Iran’s destabilizing activities. This development comes after NATO’s Military Committee Chairman, Rob Bauer, stated during the Warsaw Security Forum on October 4th that Western states have nearly exhausted their weapon supplies intended for delivery to Ukraine.

Previously, it was reported that the United States would transfer intercepted Iranian weapons and ammunition, originally destined for Yemen, to Ukraine. NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has also assessed the possibility of further assistance to Ukraine from Poland and Slovakia.
