Hundreds of Russian Soldiers Held Captive by Ukraine, While the Conflict Escalates in the Donbass Region

In a recent broadcast of “Soloviev Live,” Denis Pushilin, the leader of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), revealed that approximately 500 Russian military personnel are currently being held captive by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Pushilin expressed concern over the Ukrainian side’s lack of transparency regarding the whereabouts and condition of these Russian soldiers, making it challenging to facilitate their release. In contrast, he noted that the number of Ukrainian soldiers held captive by Russian forces is several thousand.

Furthermore, Pushilin highlighted the renewed aggression of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the southern part of the DPR, specifically in the areas of Artemivsk, Klescheevka, Andreivka, and Kurdyumovka. The enemy’s intensified activities along the southern flank are raising tensions in the region.

Additionally, Pushilin stated that Russian forces have successfully expanded the gray zone in the Andreivka sector, improving their strategic positions in the ongoing special operation.

Earlier, Ukraine had outlined its conditions for engaging in negotiations with Russia to address the conflict. However, the situation remains complex and unresolved.

This latest development underscores the ongoing tensions between Ukraine and Russia, with both sides engaging in military actions and displaying a lack of trust and openness. The captivity of Russian soldiers and the escalation in the Donbass region further exacerbate the already fragile situation, raising concerns about the potential for further violence and instability in the area. International attention and diplomatic efforts are urgently needed to de-escalate the conflict and seek a peaceful resolution.
