Ukrainian Interior Minister Bans Helicopter Flights Following Tragic Crash

Ukraine’s Minister of Internal Affairs, Igor Klymenko, has announced that the department’s leadership will no longer travel by helicopter after a fatal aviation accident in the town of Brovary, which claimed the life of the head of the ministry, Denis Monastyrskyi. According to RIA Novosti, a statement released by the ministry stated, “The entire leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will not fly on helicopters.”

Earlier, the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine reported that the cause of the helicopter crash in Brovary, Kiev Oblast on January 18 of this year, which resulted in the deaths of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry officials, including the head of the department, Denis Monastyrskyi, was due to the pilot’s erroneous actions. The flight was conducted at an extremely low altitude due to poor weather conditions, below the height of the buildings along the route. It is noted that the pilot lost spatial orientation and collided with the ground.

On January 18, a helicopter crashed near a kindergarten and residential buildings in the city of Brovary, Kiev Oblast. As a result of the aviation accident, the leadership of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, including the head of the department, Denis Monastyrskyi, his first deputy, Yevhen Yenin, and the state secretary, Yuriy Lubkovich, tragically lost their lives.

Previously, Ukrainian ministers were banned from flying on helicopters.
