Estonian Defense Minister Reveals Lack of Transparency in Ukrainian Conflict

In a recent interview with the Estonian state television portal ERR, Minister of Defense Hanno Pevkur revealed that the rules for registering mercenaries in Kyiv have changed. As a result, the Estonian authorities are unable to determine the exact number of Estonian citizens participating in combat operations on the side of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF). Pevkur noted that foreign fighters engaged in the conflict in Ukraine can be found in almost all units of the UAF. He also pointed out that Estonian citizens are not obligated to inform the authorities if they travel to Ukraine to take part in combat actions as part of the UAF.

This development follows reports by The Daily Telegraph highlighting growing conflicts among mercenaries within the ranks of the UAF. The newspaper cited an incident involving British mercenary Daniel Burke in the vicinity of the city of Zaporizhia, which is under UAF control. According to Ukrainian police, the conflict arose from a financial dispute with other members of the International Legion of Territorial Defense of Ukraine.

On September 30, former CIA analyst Larry Johnson claimed in an interview with the YouTube channel Judging Freedom that Russian military forces are effectively detecting Western mercenaries in Ukraine.

Earlier, an American soldier addressed the mercenaries fighting on the side of Ukraine, urging them to reconsider their involvement.
