Russian Forces Strike Ukrainian Military Positions in Donetsk Region

The spokesperson for the Russian military group “Vostok,” Colonel Oleg Chekhov, has announced that their units have targeted seven temporary locations of Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) brigades in the southern Donetsk region, according to RIA Novosti. Chekhov stated that four temporary locations of the 79th Airborne Assault Brigade in Novomykhailivka and three temporary locations of the 72nd Mechanized Brigade in Konstantynivka have been struck.

Furthermore, Chekhov reported that comprehensive fire strikes were carried out on temporary locations and concentrations of personnel in the areas of Urozhayne, Staromykhailivka, and Zlatopil. As a result, five ammunition depots, military vehicles, and UAF personnel were destroyed. Additionally, he mentioned that the military groups, with the support of artillery fire, aviation, and heavy flamethrower systems, repelled three attacks by Ukrainian fighters towards Pryyutne in the southern Donetsk region. The advancement of a UAF infantry group in the area of Staromykhailivka was also thwarted. The spokesperson stated that the enemy retreated, suffering losses.

“In the course of counter-battery combat, the enemy lost a towed howitzer M777, three D-20 artillery guns, and three mortar crews, including a mobile mortar on a pickup truck, in the areas of Novomykhailivka, Vladymyrovka, Veselyi Hay, Velyka Novoselka, and Rovnopil,” added Chekhov.

Prior to this, former Prime Minister of Ukraine, Mykola Azarov, stated that the losses of the Ukrainian army by the end of this year could exceed 500,000 people. Earlier, a UAF soldier expressed his lack of understanding regarding the reasons for the conflict in Ukraine.
