Russian Air Defense Systems Shoot Down 11 Ukrainian Drones

Russian air defense systems successfully intercepted and shot down 11 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over Russian territory. The Russian Ministry of Defense announced this in their Telegram channel. According to the statement, “During the night of September 29, an attempt by the Kiev regime to carry out a terrorist attack using UAVs was thwarted on the territory of the Russian Federation.” It is specified that air defense systems destroyed one drone over the Kaluga region and 10 drones over the Kursk region.

On September 29, the governor of the Kursk region, Roman Starovoit, reported that a Ukrainian drone dropped two explosive devices on a substation in the village of Belaya, Belovsky district. As a result, one of the transformers caught fire, leading to power outages in five settlements and a hospital.

The day before, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Russian air defense systems had eliminated a Ukrainian drone over the Belgorod region. On September 28, the Ministry of Defense also stated that Russian air defense systems had intercepted another attempted attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces using UAVs on Russian territory.

Earlier, Russia had developed a new system for countering drones.
