In a recent announcement, Sergey Melikov, the head of Dagestan, revealed the formation of a volunteer battalion called “Kaspiy” in the region. The initiative for this battalion came from several social organizations, and Melikov considers it to be an important, noble, and symbolic endeavor. Prior to this, the deputy commander of the Volunteer Assault Corps, Nikolay Dyakonov, stated that, upon the decision of higher-ranking authorities, a Cossack reconnaissance and assault brigade named “Sibir” has been established. This brigade will include three more units, each named after Siberian Cossack rivers. Dyakonov mentioned that the brigade is currently stationed in the Luhansk People’s Republic, with some of its divisions located on the frontlines in the Donetsk People’s Republic. Oleg Likontsev, a Hero of Russia, has been appointed as the commander of the “Sibir” unit and now serves as the deputy commander of the brigade.
Meanwhile, in Russia, a new system for countering drones has been developed. This system aims to enhance Russia’s defense capabilities against unmanned aerial vehicles.
