Russia’s Rosatom CEO Raises Concerns over Ukraine’s Actions at Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant

During the 67th session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Alexey Likhachev, the CEO of Russia’s state corporation Rosatom, expressed his concerns about the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine. He stated that the only real threat to the plant and its employees comes from the reckless actions of the armed formations in Kyiv, as reported by TASS.

Likhachev also commended the work of the IAEA Director General, Rafael Grossi, in protecting the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant. In late July, Likhachev had already expressed Rosatom’s support for increasing the number of experts from the IAEA stationed at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant.

Previously, Rosatom and the IAEA chief held a meeting to discuss the situation at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant. The CEO of Rosatom emphasized the importance of safeguarding the facility and ensuring the safety of its operations.

The Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant, located in Ukraine, is one of the largest nuclear power plants in Europe. It plays a crucial role in providing electricity to the country and neighboring regions. The concerns raised by Likhachev highlight the need for responsible actions and cooperation between Ukraine and Russia to ensure the safe operation of this vital energy facility.
