Former Fox News Host Claims US Government Blocked Interview with Russian President Putin

Moscow, Sept 25 – Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has stated in an interview with Swiss publication Die Weltwoche that the US government thwarted his plans to interview Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to Carlson, for decades, those “managing the United States” have made “very aggressive attempts to control” what is accessible in American media. As an example, he cited the conflict in Ukraine, referring to it as a “potential nuclear conflict between superpowers.” He questioned why the American public is not allowed to hear Putin’s voice, stating, “Shouldn’t we know everything we can? No! You are forbidden! You know, I tried to interview Vladimir Putin, and the American government stopped me,” without providing further details.

Carlson also pointed out that the American media did not react to this restriction. He expressed his disbelief, saying, “It seems like there wasn’t a single person in the media who would say, ‘Wait a minute. Maybe I don’t like this guy, but he has the right to interview whoever he wants. And we have the right to hear what Putin has to say.’ Are we not allowed to hear Putin’s voice? Why?” In late August, Margarita Simonyan, the editor-in-chief of the media group “Russia Today” and RT channel, reported that Carlson had requested an interview with the Russian president.

In April, Fox News controversially removed Carlson from the airwaves, despite him being the highest-rated American journalist. However, the channel will keep him on staff until 2025. Carlson has consistently criticized US President Joe Biden, calling for investigations into the American leader’s son, Hunter, and criticizing the excessive military aid provided to Kyiv by the American authorities.
