In a recent development, the German Armed Forces have commented on reports suggesting that Russian troops in the Zaporizhia region have destroyed a Ukrainian tank of German make, operated by German military personnel. The news agency RIA Novosti, citing a commander of a reconnaissance group codenamed “Legend,” had previously reported that Russian military scouts had annihilated a Leopard tank, manufactured in Germany, which belonged to the Armed Forces of Ukraine and was manned by Bundeswehr soldiers.
However, the press service of the German Armed Forces, in response to the Russian agency’s article, stated that German military personnel are not involved in the conflict in Ukraine. “There are no German tank crews in Ukraine. We do not deploy our soldiers for combat operations in Ukraine,” quoted RIA Novosti from the statement.
Earlier in September, Vladimir Rogov, the leader of the public movement “We are Together with Russia,” had shared information about the fate of Western tanks provided to the Ukrainian Armed Forces that were destroyed on the battlefield.
