Former President Donald Trump criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for not doing enough to combat the surge in antisemitism during a “Fighting Anti-Semitism in America” event in Washington, DC. He challenged her to disavow support from Hamas sympathizers backing her campaign. Trump expressed his concern about the rise in antisemitic incidents and urged Harris to take action against those causing harm to Jewish students on college campuses.
The former president called out Harris for expressing sympathy towards anti-Israel protesters who set up encampments on college campuses earlier this year, saying that her message is “dangerous” and “unbefitting” of a candidate for president. Trump demanded that Kamala Harris officially disavow the support of all Hamas sympathizers and Israel haters on college campuses and everywhere else.
The event was hosted by Miriam Adelson, co-owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks and widow of GOP megadonor Sheldon Adelson. Adelson praised Trump for keeping his promises, including moving the US Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem and recognizing the Golan Heights as Israeli territory during his first term.
Throughout his speech, Trump lamented that despite these accomplishments, Jewish Americans still vote for Democrats, which he found puzzling. He argued that any Jewish person who votes for Harris or the Democratic Party should have their head examined, suggesting that American Jews may vote Democrat out of habit rather than a genuine understanding of policies affecting them.
Trump pledged that if elected, “ugly anti-Semitic, pro-Hamas bigotry and hate will be turned back and crushed.” He further promised to withhold accreditations and federal support for universities that promote “anti-Semitic propaganda,” enforce civil rights laws when Jewish students are harassed or threatened on college campuses, and ban refugee resettlement from areas like the Gaza Strip.
Following his speech at the fighting antisemitism event, Trump addressed the Israeli American Council’s 2024 national conference in Washington, DC, where he continued to court Jewish voters and criticize Harris. He declared that if Kamala Harris becomes president, “you will have the most anti-Israel president by far.
In this address, Trump accused Harris of repeatedly demanding an immediate cease-fire to save Hamas and reiterated his belief that Israel and the Jewish people have “no chance” if she is elected president.
