Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy believes that former President Donald Trump faced a “tag team match” against Kamala Harris during their debate on Tuesday night. The 47-year-old, a vocal Trump supporter, criticized the moderators for not pressuring Harris as much as they did Trump.
Portnoy took to Twitter to express his disapproval of the way the debate was conducted, saying, “I don’t think this is going well for Trump so far at all. probably doesn’t help that it’s a tag team match, but yeah not great.” The businessman also slammed the moderators for failing to ask Kamala Harris about whether she met Russian President Vladimir Putin.
During the debate, former President Donald Trump accused Biden of “sending [Harris] in to negotiate with [Ukraine President Volodymyr] Zelensky and [Russian President Vladimir] Putin, and she did, and the war started three days later.” However, when asked by moderator David Muir whether she had ever met Vladimir Putin, Harris answered that she had met with Zelensky “over five times.” Portnoy criticized this response, saying, “Vice President Harris, have you ever met Vladimir Putin? Simple question. No answer. No clarification from moderators.
In an interview with Fox Business, Portnoy confirmed he was voting for Trump in the 2024 election. He told Varney & Co. host Stuart Varney that “I’m voting for Trump. I don’t know that I’d call myself a Trump guy. If I thought there was a candidate that was better, I would be open to having that.
Portnoy also discussed the potential impact of Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris on the election, calling it “no upside” for her getting involved in politics. Swift announced her support for Harris and vice presidential candidate Tim Walz on Tuesday, towards the end of the debate.
