The CEO of Goya Foods, Robert Unanue, has accused the current US administration, led by Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden, of being “complicit” in child trafficking and human trafficking due to their inability to control the southern border. This claim was made after he criticized the shift in focus by the Vice President towards “price controls” for groceries and other goods. Unanue urged the administration to take action on border control, stating that the United States should not act as a “complicit middleman” for such illicit activities.
Unanue’s criticism comes after he praised Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele’s efforts in cracking down on gang members and locking up thousands of criminals who terrorized the citizens of El Salvador. However, he expressed concern that many members of El Salvador’s notorious MS-13 gang have crossed the border into the US and are now causing trouble for residents, including other Salvadoran migrants.
The Goya Foods CEO highlighted the danger faced by some Salvadorans who had fled to the US but now want to move back due to safety concerns and harassment from MS-13 thugs. He also acknowledged that El Salvador’s economic situation is not ideal. Unanue, a strong supporter of former President Donald Trump and the Republican party, has been critical of the current administration and their policies.
In 2021, Goya Foods board censured Unanue after he questioned the legitimacy of the 2020 presidential election and barred him from making public statements without the board’s approval. Despite this, Unanue is set to release a book titled “Blessed, Donald J. Trump and the Spiritual War: How the Battle for the Soul of this Country Began With One Word.” In it, he argues that God protected Trump during his presidency and that the current administration has caused significant harm to the nation.
Unanue also criticized the administration’s decision to stop the Keystone pipeline to expand oil delivery from Canada to the US and referred to the Green New Deal as “crazy.” The Harris campaign has not yet responded to his accusations.
