Sidewalk Nightmare: Harlem Pickup Truck Crash Strikes Pedestrians and UPS Truck

Terrifying moments were captured on video when a pickup truck mounted a sidewalk in Harlem, striking two pedestrians before plowing into a fire hydrant and a parked UPS truck. The incident occurred just before 4:50 p.m. on the corner of St. Nicholas Ave. and West 148th Street after the truck driver failed to navigate the roadway correctly, according to police.

The surveillance footage of the crash shows the pickup truck barreling down the sidewalk, striking two men in its path who were thrown into the street. After the collision, one of the victims quickly jumped up and ran away from the wreck while the other remained on the ground behind the truck.

A bystander captured another video showing paramedics tending to the victim as he lay injured on the roadway next to the mangled pickup truck. Emergency responders placed him on a stretcher and loaded him into an ambulance, with a small crowd looking on.

The man who appears to be the other victim told officers at the scene that the driver cut the corner and jumped the curb before striking him and the other man on the ground. He cleared out both of us,” he told the police. I went up in the air, he went under.

The driver remained uninjured and stayed at the scene as authorities investigated the incident. One bystander filming the events unfolded commented that it could have been anyone on that sidewalk.

Both victims were transported to NYC Health and Hospitals Harlem in stable condition, but no further information about their injuries was immediately available. No charges had been filed as of Monday night as the investigation continues.
