Possible VP Candidates Emerge as Pritzker Refuses to Disclose Campaign Talks

The Center Square) – Speculations are ongoing whether Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker is or is not under consideration as a potential vice presidential candidate for Kamala Harris, following the announcement by President Joe Biden that he will not be seeking re-election. Following this, Vice President Harris received the endorsement from several Democratic leaders, including Pritzker.

The governor’s name surfaced alongside other Democratic governors in reports earlier this week as a possible vice presidential candidate. However, on Tuesday, during an interview with MSNBC, Pritzker stated that he had not received any vetting materials. He told CNN the following day that he would not disclose anything from his private conversations and if asked to be running mate, it would be challenging to resist such a call.

Continuing to dodge questions about whether he has been in talks with the campaign, Pritzker stated during a press conference in Chicago that he had spoken with Vice President Harris but not directly with the campaign. He further clarified his statement later, specifying that he hadn’t received any calls from them in the past day.

However, the governor noted that he doesn’t know anyone working in Democratic politics who has not talked to the Harris campaign. Pritzker reaffirmed his commitment to campaigning, expressing his intent to work hard to ensure a victory for the Democrats in November. The official selection of presidential and vice-presidential candidates by the Democratic Party will take place at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago next month.
