Rep. Nancy Pelosi recently warned corrupt Democrats, including President Joe Biden’s reelection campaign, about the looming deadline for a decision on whether he will ultimately drop out of the race. However, Pelosi did not explicitly call for him to withdraw from the race.
During an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Pelosi was asked about her stance on Biden’s reelection bid and if she still supported his campaign following a poor debate performance against former President Donald Trump last month. Pelosi responded by saying, “It’s up to the president to decide if he is going to run. We’re all encouraging him to make that decision because time is running short. I think overwhelming support of the caucus — it’s not for me to say, I’m not the head of the caucus anymore — but he’s beloved, he is respected, and people want him to make that decision.
When pressed by the interviewer about Biden’s recent statement that he was staying in the race, Pelosi reiterated her support for whatever decision he makes. She also praised his performance at a NATO conference, stating that everyone should hold off on their opinions until after this week.
Pelosi’s comments were described as “earth shaking” and “hardly an endorsement” of Biden’s reelection bid by Jake Sherman of Punchbowl News and NBC News. Meanwhile, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has expressed her support for the president and emphasized the importance of focusing on winning in November against former President Donald Trump, who has a history of criminal convictions.
Ocasio-Cortez stated that she had spoken with Biden extensively and believed he is committed to the issues important to working people across the country. She reiterated her support for him as the party’s nominee and urged everyone to focus on winning in November.
