President Joe Biden’s physician has released a letter addressing the visits of Parkinson’s disease specialist Dr. Kevin Cannard to the White House amid concerns about the president’s mental condition. The New York Times reported on Monday that Dr. Cannard visited the White House eight times in eight months, with his first visit occurring in July and concluding in March. Visitor logs indicate that one of these visits involved a meeting with White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor and a cardiologist.
In an attempt to deflect any attempts to link Cannard’s visits to Biden’s health, O’Connor highlighted the specialist’s qualifications in his letter. According to O’Connor, prior to the pandemic and after its end, Dr. Cannard held regular Neurology Clinics at the White House Medical Clinic in support of the thousands of active-duty members assigned to the White House. Many military personnel experience neurological issues related to their service, and Dr. Cannard regularly visits the WHMU as part of his general neurology practice.
The letter also noted that when President Biden had his three annual neurological exams, Dr. Cannard was the doctor who performed them. In a February 28 letter, it was stated that “there were no findings which would be consistent with any cerebellar or other central neurological disorder, such as stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s or ascending lateral sclerosis, nor are there any signs of cervical myelopathy.
Dr. O’Connor emphasized that Dr. Cannard has been seeing patients at the White House for a dozen years and was picked not because he is a movement disorder specialist but because he is a highly trained and highly regarded neurologist. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed concerns about President Biden seeing a Parkinson’s specialist, stating that he has not been treated or taken medication for the condition.
Fox News host Shannon Bream revealed over the weekend that her team could find no Democratic lawmakers or allies of President Joe Biden willing to publicly defend his decision to continue his presidential campaign. Despite numerous attempts to contact Biden campaign lawmakers and allies, none were able or willing to join Bream’s show on Sunday to discuss the matter.
