Kamala Harris Falsely Accuses Trump of Nationwide Abortion Ban in Latest Debate

Vice President Kamala Harris recently made a false claim about former President Donald Trump in a June 30 post, stating that Trump would ban abortion nationwide if he were to become president again. However, this is contrary to Trump’s repeated statements, including during his recent debate against President Joe Biden, where he supported the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to return the issue of abortion to the states and stated that he would continue to support “states’ rights” as a potential future president.

Many X users called out Harris for her inaccurate claim, pointing to reports from even left-leaning media that accurately reported Trump’s position on the matter. The most notable correction came from Elon Musk, who expressed frustration with politicians spreading falsehoods on the platform and questioned when they would learn that lying no longer works.

The debate between Biden and Trump also saw several inaccuracies, such as Biden falsely claiming he had no troops dying anywhere in the world during his presidency, despite at least 16 U.S. troop deaths since he took office. Musk appears to believe that the first debate between Biden and Trump was primarily political theater meant to set up a “switch.

The race between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump seems to have shifted significantly in recent polls, with University of Virginia Center for Politics Director Larry Sabato stating that things are no longer stable and it is no longer close. The vice president’s false claim about Trump’s stance on abortion highlights the importance of fact-checking information shared by politicians on social media platforms like X.
