Rubio’s Rally: Speculation Surrounds Trump’s VP Pick

Speculation regarding former President Donald Trump’s choice for his running mate has increased ahead of an upcoming rally in Florida on July 9th. The event is set to take place at the Trump National Doral Golf Club, located close to Miami – the hometown of Senator Marco Rubio. Rubio, who serves as the ranking member of the Senate Intelligence Committee and was a Republican presidential rival in 2016, has long been considered a top pick for Trump’s vice president. The rally is scheduled just one week before the start of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, where Trump is expected to be confirmed as the GOP’s presidential nominee for 2024.

While some political commentators have suggested that the choice of location for the rally could indicate Rubio as the chosen running mate, Trump’s spokesperson Brian Hughes has downplayed this speculation. He stated: “As President Trump has said himself, the top criteria in selecting a Vice President is a strong leader who will make a great President for eight years after his next four-year term concludes.” However, the fact that the rally is occurring close to Rubio’s hometown has sparked further interest.

Other names mentioned as potential candidates for Trump’s vice president include North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance, Sen. Tim Scott, and Florida Representative Byron Donalds. As the political landscape continues to evolve, it remains uncertain who Trump will ultimately choose as his running mate.

In other news, President Joe Biden is facing challenges following his debate with former President Donald Trump. Internal Democratic polling has shown that Biden’s support has decreased even in reliably blue states, as well as battleground states. The results of a poll conducted by OpenLabs, which works with Future Forward – the preferred Super PAC for Biden’s reelection campaign – reveal that 40 percent of voters who supported Biden in 2020 now think he should leave the race. This is a significant increase from May when only 25 percent held this viewpoint.

The polling data also indicates that Trump is gaining ground on Biden in various states, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, Virginia, Maine, Minnesota, New Mexico, and Colorado. As the political climate remains uncertain, it will be interesting to see how these developments unfold as the race for the presidency continues.
