On ABC’s “The View,” co-host Sunny Hostin appeared surprised by a remark made by guest and far-left MSNBC host Rachel Maddow regarding some of the U.S. Supreme Court’s conservative-leaning justices. Maddow stated that Chief Justice John Roberts is responsible for addressing corruption within the court, specifically mentioning Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.
Maddow has been critical of both Thomas and Alito recently, with left-wing media and Democrats accusing the former of not fully disclosing gifts from a wealthy Republican donor, and the latter for flying an upside-down U.S. flag at his residence. Hostin questioned Maddow’s claims, but the MSNBC host stood by them.
Maddow referred to the case of Ginni Thomas, wife of Clarence Thomas, who texted then-White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows urging him to challenge President Trump’s 2020 election loss. Maddow argued that this situation effectively gave Trump immunity from legal consequences related to the 2020 election.
However, it is worth noting that past rules and standards did not require Thomas to make such disclosures, and he has promised to follow new rules in the future. Furthermore, Alito claimed that his wife was the one who turned the flag upside down, with no evidence suggesting otherwise.
In a more positive light, “The View” co-hosts had previously praised the Supreme Court when it preserved access to the abortion medication mifepristone. Hostin expressed her restored faith in the court, while Sara Haines emphasized the importance of having faith in the country’s institutions and the judicial system.
