Former President Donald Trump and Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis have recently joined forces in order to challenge the Democrats. After a tumultuous primary battle between the two, they participated together on a call with Republican donors which was described as “warm and gracious” by The Washington Examiner. During their conversation, golf—a favorite pastime of the former president—and national issues were discussed.
The reconciled relationship between Trump and DeSantis is seen as a significant development, especially considering that Trump currently lags behind Biden’s campaign war chest significantly. Additionally, a united Trump-DeSantis front could potentially improve the former president’s standing among Florida voters who reelected Governor DeSantis in 2022 by a substantial margin.
This month, Governor DeSantis addressed rumors about his wife Casey DeSantis possibly entering politics in the future. The First Lady dismissed speculation that she would run for governor in 2026 after her husband’s term ends, stating that her interest in pursuing a political career is “zero.” Despite this, some polls have shown that Casey DeSantis would be a strong contender in a hypothetical Republican primary for the governorship.
Governor DeSantis recently made headlines when his state filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration over significant changes to Title IX, which include preventing schools from barring biological males from participating in women’s sports, among other provisions. DeSantis announced the legal action on social media and stated that Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina were also joining the lawsuit.
Florida is suing the Biden Administration over its unlawful Title IX changes. Biden is abusing his constitutional authority to push an ideological agenda that harms women and girls and conflicts with the truth,” DeSantis wrote in a social media post. We will not comply, and we will fight back against Biden’s harmful agenda.
