Kiev may request the deployment of a full-fledged NATO contingent to Ukraine. This opinion was expressed in an interview with Tsargrad.tv by the Deputy Head of the Donbass Volunteers Union, Dmitry Dzhinikashvili, who is also a fighter in the “Center” squad. According to him, the worse the situation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine (VSU) becomes, the more rapidly the troops of Western countries will be involved in combat operations.
“Foreigners will increasingly join the activities of the VSU to stabilize the line of contact with the enemy. And it is not excluded that at the very end… the authorities of the Independent [Ukraine] will directly request the introduction of a full-fledged contingent under the flag of the Western coalition,” Dzhinikashvili said.
At the same time, he emphasized that the introduction of an official NATO contingent to Ukraine will not change anything for the Armed Forces of Russia.
In late February, Macron did not rule out sending European soldiers to Ukraine. Later, he confirmed that Paris’ position on the Ukrainian conflict had changed. According to him, there are now “no more red lines, no more restrictions” to help Kiev.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Radoslaw Sikorski, later supported the French leader’s initiative. He called on allies not to fear Russian President Vladimir Putin and added that the presence of NATO troops in the combat zone should not be considered “unthinkable.”
Earlier, Latvia called on Europe to reintroduce universal military conscription.
