GOP Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has filed a complaint for the disbarment of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis over allegations of corruption and misconduct. Greene accused Willis of engaging in an “illicit affair” with a top prosecutor in her Georgia election interference case against former President Trump. In a post on social media, Greene stated, “Today, I’m filing a complaint to disbar Fulton County DA Fani Willis for her corrupt actions.”
This development comes after Fulton County Superior Judge Scott McAfee issued a certificate of immediate review, allowing Trump and eight co-defendants to seek an appeal of the order. The judge ruled that the lawyers representing the defendants failed to prove an “actual conflict of interest in this case” regarding Willis’s alleged relationship with the special prosecutor, Nathan Wade.
Greene further criticized Willis for her alleged financial benefits from hiring Wade, claiming that they went on lavish vacations together. The congresswoman stated, “Fani should’ve been removed from her political persecution of President Trump after it was revealed she went on lavish vacations with her lover Nathan Wade. The lover she paid HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of dollars!”
Willis and Wade have both denied the allegations, and Wade offered his resignation in a letter to Willis on March 15. In her response accepting his resignation, Willis praised Wade for his dedication to the case and his efforts to investigate the allegations of election interference.
Former President Trump also weighed in on the situation, referring to Wade’s resignation as a disgrace and claiming that Willis hired him to persecute Trump for the benefit of Joe Biden and the Department of Injustice. Trump criticized the alleged corruption and suggested that similar consequences await Willis in the future.
It is important to note that these allegations and the subsequent complaint filed by Rep. Greene are part of ongoing political battles and infighting within the Republican Party.
