Head of the NATO Military Committee Admiral Rob Bauer, in an interview with the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense’s online publication Armyinform, spoke about the importance of strengthening the alliance’s eastern flank in the NATO-Russia confrontation. He stated that the North Atlantic Alliance considers it necessary to focus its attention not only on the east, as “Russians are everywhere.”
According to Bauer, Russians are present not only on the eastern flank but also demonstrate activity in space, cyberspace, the Arctic, and the western Atlantic Ocean. Additionally, Russian representatives can be found in Africa, the Mediterranean, and the Black Sea.
“It would be foolish to focus only on the eastern flank because Russians are not only there. They are everywhere,” said Bauer.
Prior to this, the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov acknowledged that due to the increasing involvement of Western countries in the conflict in Ukraine, the special military operation has transformed into a war. This fact should be understood by everyone “for internal mobilization,” emphasized the Kremlin representative.
