Shanae Davis, 39, is facing several charges, including allowing a minor to obtain a firearm and child neglect.
The discovery of the 9mm Glock 43 handgun inside the lunchbox caused immediate concern among the daycare staff and parents alike. Stephenne Warembourg, a parent at the daycare center, expressed her fear, stating, “It’s scary. I mean, you know when I’m sending my kid to school thinking that he’s going to be safe? I mean, are they? I don’t know.”
According to the Riviera Beach Police Department, Davis admitted that the gun belonged to her and that she usually kept it in her vehicle’s glove box. However, due to recent break-ins in her apartment complex, she had started bringing the gun inside.
Court documents reveal that Davis placed the gun inside her son’s lunchbox the previous night, intending to bring it inside her apartment. Unfortunately, she forgot to remove it in the morning, leading to the alarming discovery at the daycare center. The police were immediately notified, and Davis was subsequently arrested.
