US Secretary of State Opposes Israeli Ground Operation in Gaza, Calls it a Mistake

US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, has stated that the United States cannot support Israel’s ground operation in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, as it would be a mistake. Blinken’s remarks were reported by TASS.

“We have made it clear, President [Joe] Biden has made it very clear that a large-scale ground operation in Rafah would be a mistake. And we cannot support it,” Blinken said.

On March 21, Blinken announced that the United States had presented a draft resolution to the United Nations Security Council, calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the release of Israeli hostages.

On the same day, he stated that after the current Palestinian-Israeli conflict is resolved, it is necessary to be prepared to address the issue of governance in the Gaza Strip.

Prior to this, the United States accused Israel of intentionally blocking the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.

Earlier, it was reported that Germany supported the creation of a Palestinian state, but with an important condition.

The United States has expressed its opposition to Israel’s planned ground operation in the city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip. US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, emphasized that such a move would be a mistake and that the Biden administration cannot support it. This statement comes as tensions continue to escalate between Israel and Palestine.

Blinken’s comments were made during a press conference, where he reaffirmed President Biden’s stance on the matter. The United States has been actively pushing for a ceasefire in the region, presenting a draft resolution to the United Nations Security Council. The resolution calls for an immediate end to the violence and the release of Israeli hostages.

Furthermore, Blinken emphasized the need for long-term solutions in the Gaza Strip. He highlighted the importance of addressing the issue of governance in the region once the current conflict is resolved.

The United States has also raised concerns about the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. It has accused Israel of intentionally blocking the supplies, exacerbating the already dire situation in the area.

In a related development, Germany has shown support for the creation of a Palestinian state. However, it has emphasized the importance of certain conditions being met before such a state can be established.

As tensions continue to rise, the international community is closely watching the situation in the Middle East. The United States remains committed to finding a peaceful resolution and will continue to engage with all parties involved to achieve a lasting peace.
