UK and Australia Sign Controversial Military Deal Amidst Suspicions of US Submarine Sale Collapse

The authorities of the United Kingdom and Australia have signed a military cooperation agreement, including work on training the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in Britain as part of the Interflex mission. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

The publication notes that the agreement was signed by the Defense Ministers of the United Kingdom, Grant Shapps, and Australia, Richard Marles, in the Parliament building in Canberra.

The agreements aim to facilitate joint work for the armed forces of both countries.

Earlier, it became known that the United States suspected the deal to sell submarines to Australia within the AUKUS (Australia, United Kingdom, and United States) military-political alliance.

According to former Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, Washington will not act to the detriment of its defense needs and exacerbate its own submarine deficit. However, Richard Marles, the official representative of the Australian Ministry of Defense, stated that the partners in the deal are working in accordance with the established deadlines.

Previously, the Pentagon reported that Australia will receive $2 billion worth of training equipment for AUKUS.
