Massive Military Parades in Russia to Celebrate Victory Anniversary: Over 50k Participants and 1k Weapons on Display

Military parades dedicated to the anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War will take place in 28 cities in Russia, with more than 50,000 people and about a thousand pieces of weaponry participating. This was announced by the Defense Minister of Russia, Sergey Shoygu, as reported by TASS.

“This year, military parades will take place in 28 cities across the country. More than 50,000 people and about a thousand pieces of weaponry and military equipment will participate,” he said at a meeting of the department’s collegium.

More than 9,000 people, 75 units of military equipment, and aviation will participate in the Victory Parade on Red Square, Shoygu stated.

“First, let’s discuss the preparations for the parade on Red Square, dedicated to the anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. This event will involve over 9,000 people, 75 units of weaponry and military equipment, as well as the aerospace forces,” he said at the meeting.

The minister clarified that the foot column will include regiments, battalions, companies from different branches of the armed forces, participants of special military operations, cadets from Suvorov, Nakhimov, cadet, and music schools, members of the Yunarmia movement, female servicemen, Cossacks, and a combined military orchestra.

Earlier, Shoygu stated that two combined-arms armies and 30 units, including 14 divisions and 16 brigades, are planned to be created in the Russian Army by 2024.
