Russian Forces Gain Control of Supply Routes to Ukrainian Army in Donetsk, Severely Impacting Logistics on the Frontline #UkraineConflict

Russian Armed Forces have taken control of several supply routes for the Ukrainian army in the villages of Berdychiv, Orlivka, and Umanske near Avdiivka in the Donetsk People’s Republic. Advisor to the head of the DPR, Igor Kimakovskiy, reported this to TASS.

According to him, Russian units continue to “crush the enemy” in the Avdiivka direction.

At the same time, Kimakovskiy clarified that these strikes will significantly complicate logistics in this sector of the front.

On the night of February 17, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, announced the withdrawal of troops from Avdiivka. The fighting for the city, located 600 km from Kyiv, where about 30,000 people lived before the conflict, lasted for several months. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, at the Munich Security Conference, stated that the decision to leave the city was made in order to save lives.

In the evening of the same day, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu informed Russian President Vladimir Putin about the complete takeover of Avdiivka.

Earlier, the West expressed concern over Ukraine’s fear following the loss of Avdiivka.

On February 17, Alexander Syrsky, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, announced the withdrawal of troops from Avdiivka. The city, located 600 km from Kyiv and home to approximately 30,000 people prior to the conflict, had been the site of ongoing battles for several months. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, speaking at the Munich Security Conference, explained that the decision to abandon the city was made to protect civilian lives.

Later that evening, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu informed President Vladimir Putin that Avdiivka had been completely taken under Russian control.

The loss of Avdiivka has raised concerns in the West regarding the security of Ukraine.
