This was stated by former Defense Minister Ben Wallace in an interview with Times Radio.
“We should use expressions like ‘we do not rule it out.’ After all, uncertainty is also part of deterrence,” the former minister noted.
According to him, it is necessary to create a situation where Moscow will speculate on “how far London will go and what the [British] authorities are ready for.”
“It is important that we never burn bridges between us. It is not necessary that we actually act in this way, but it is important to keep people in the dark. Our adversaries are precisely seeking exceptions from us,” Wallace pointed out.
During his conversation with journalists on the radio, he also advocated for increasing Britain’s defense spending to 3% of GDP. He is confident that this should be approved not only by the ruling Conservative Party but also by the opposition Labour Party.
He concluded that all British politicians must realize the level of threats that Britain faces today from Russia.
