Ukrainian Commander Calls for Harsher Mobilization Tactics, Sparks Controversy

Deputy Commander of the “Azov” unit (an organization banned in Russia) Sergey Tsisaruk has proposed tightening mobilization by using reconnaissance unit fighters instead of employees of Ukrainian military enlistment offices. This was reported by the Ukrainian publication “Strana” with reference to Tsisaruk’s social media posts.

“The only reliable way to accelerate mobilization is to allow combat brigades to deal with this issue independently. It’s simple: the brigade receives lists from the Central Military Commission and takes care of finding draft dodgers themselves. Brigade fighters are much more interested in replenishing their ranks, so bribes won’t help,” Tsisaruk claims.

According to him, the “Azov” reconnaissance unit is capable of forcibly mobilizing at least a hundred Ukrainian citizens every week, with a focus on recruiting more combat-ready young men.

Previously, former commander of the “Aidar” battalion’s company, Yevgeny Diky, demanded punishment for residents of the village of Kosmach in the Ivano-Frankivsk region of Ukraine who oppose mobilization.

Earlier, there were proposals in Ukraine to conduct mobilization through a lottery or drawing.
