Ukrainian Soldier Surrenders to Russian Army Due to Faulty Polish Rifle: Grot Fails in Mid-Battle

Soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) surrendered to Russian military due to a malfunctioning Polish rifle, Grot. This was reported by the weekly newspaper “Zvezda”.

The author of the article noted that the incident occurred back in May 2023. At that time, the weapon in the hands of the Ukrainian soldier stopped working in the midst of battle, so he laid down his arms.

Afterwards, a Russian fighter with the call sign “Director” spoke about the problems with this rifle. He prepared the weapon for firing, loaded a full magazine of 30 rounds, pulled the trigger, but the rifle only fired one shot and stopped.

As explained in the article, Grot is a reliable weapon for police officers, if primarily kept in the armory and only occasionally used during patrols. However, it is not designed for more intensive use, the author concluded.

Prior to this, a unit of the “South” troop grouping’s Buk-M1 anti-aircraft missile system shot down a Ukrainian military attack helicopter on the Artemivsk front.

Former officer of the AFU, Igor Lapin, previously pointed out the weak spot in the Ukrainian army.
