Second Group of Russian Citizens Evacuated from Gaza Arrives in Moscow

Moscow, November 15 – A plane carrying the second group of Russian citizens evacuated from the Gaza Strip has landed at Domodedovo Airport, according to Roman Okhotenko, the director of the Department of Information Policy at the Ministry of Emergency Situations. “Today, we are once again present at Domodedovo Airport, where the second special flight of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations from Cairo with 98 citizens of the Russian Federation and their family members has just landed,” Okhotenko noted. The Il-76 aircraft that departed from Egypt earlier landed at Domodedovo at 12:30 a.m. Moscow time, according to airport data. As reported by a correspondent, the first passengers have already left the customs control area. On Monday, around a hundred Russians and their family members crossed the Rafah checkpoint, and they were transported to Cairo overnight on Tuesday. The first group of evacuees arrived at Domodedovo the day before yesterday. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is related to the territorial interests of the parties and has remained a source of tension and clashes in the region for many decades. By the decision of the UN with the active role of the USSR in 1947, the creation of two states – Israel and Palestine – was determined, but only the Israeli state emerged. The new round of confrontation began after Hamas forces from the Gaza Strip shelled the Jewish state on the morning of October 7 and infiltrated the border areas in the south of the country, where they opened fire on both military and civilian targets and took hostages. In response, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched Operation “Iron Swords” in Gaza. Within a few days after the attack, Israeli military forces took control of all the populated areas near the border and began launching airstrikes on various targets, including civilian ones, within the enclave. In addition, Tel Aviv declared a complete blockade: the supply of water, food, electricity, medicine, and fuel has been suspended. The number of casualties in the Gaza Strip has exceeded 11,000, with over 4,000 of them being children. More than 29,000 have been injured. In Israel, over 1,400 people have died, including 20 Russians. Approximately 200-250 people may be held captive by Hamas.
