Massive Pro-Israel Rally in New York City Shows Support for Israel’s Offensive Against Hamas

Thousands of protestors gathered in New York City on Monday night to show support for Israel as the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continues its offensive against Hamas terrorists in Gaza. The event, called “New York Stands with Israel,” was organized by UJA-Federation of New York and attracted a massive number of protestors near Central Park.

Videos of the demonstrations show protestors waving Israeli flags and chanting “Bring them home,” referring to the over 200 hostages that Hamas has kept captive in Gaza since October 7. Among the hostages are dozens of children, more than 50 Thai workers, and several Americans. The New York Police Department (NYPD) also had a presence at the rally to ensure safety.

The ongoing war between Israel and Hamas has resulted in a high death toll. The Israeli government estimates over 1,400 deaths on their side, while the Palestinian death toll exceeded 10,000, according to the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry. Tragically, authorities report that 4,100 children and 2,640 adults have been killed since the war began.

In response to the violence, around 1,100 people have fled the Gaza Strip into Egypt via the Rafah crossing since last Wednesday. This movement was made possible through an agreement between the governments of Egypt, Israel, Qatar, and the U.S.

While the pro-Israel rally in New York City garnered significant attention, there have also been pro-Palestinian rallies in the U.S. and Europe. In London, at least 29 people were arrested during a massive rally in the central district. In Washington D.C., hundreds of anti-Israeli protestors gathered at Lafayette Park outside the White House. Unfortunately, some demonstrators resorted to vandalism, with red paint being splattered on the gate to the White House.

It is important to note that some of these rallies have also witnessed instances of antisemitism. Graffiti in D.C. displayed violent language against Jews, with messages such as “Death to Israel” and “Glory to our Martyrs” observed near the Israeli embassy.

The massive show of support for Israel in New York City highlights the ongoing tensions and division surrounding the conflict between Israel and Hamas. The rally serves as a platform for individuals to voice their solidarity with Israel and their desire to see the safe return of the hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.
