Ukrainian Drone Attacks Russian Oil Refinery, Governor Claims – No Casualties Reported

Governor Dmitry Azarov of the Samara region reported that a Ukrainian drone attacked the Syzran Oil Refinery in the region. His statement was released by the governor’s press service, as reported by TASS.

“This morning, a UAV attack was carried out on the Syzran Oil Refinery, and there was an attempted attack on the Novokuibyshevsk Oil Refinery. As a result, a fire broke out in the processing unit of the Syzran Oil Refinery. According to preliminary data, there were no casualties,” Azarov’s statement said.

The regional leader also announced an attempt by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) to attack the oil refinery in Novokuibyshevsk, which was thwarted.

Prior to this, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that Russian air defense systems intercepted and destroyed eight Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles of the aircraft type over the Kursk and Belgorod regions.

In the Belgorod region, a missile alert was declared overnight on March 16. People were asked to stay at home if possible and avoid approaching windows.

Yesterday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during a meeting with military leadership, stated that Kyiv will continue to strike the “most vulnerable areas” of Russia, with specific targets already identified.

Earlier, a Ukrainian drone crashed into a car in the Belgorod region.
