Lithuanian Defense Minister Resigns Amidst Disagreements Over NATO’s Support for Ukraine

Lithuania’s Defense Minister Arvydas Anušauskas has announced his intention to resign. This news comes from the radio station LRT, citing sources.

It is noted that the country’s president, Gitanas Nauseda, will hold a meeting with Anušauskas on Saturday, March 16. The press secretary of the Lithuanian president, Ridas Jasulenis, added that Anušauskas himself requested the meeting.

Previously, Anušauskas stated that Lithuania is ready to send NATO training missions to Ukraine instead of its own armed forces.

According to him, there is no consensus among the member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance on how and in what form to support Ukraine.

Gitanas Nauseda’s advisor, Kęstutis Budrys, commented on French leader Emmanuel Macron’s statement regarding Western troops in Ukraine, stating that Vilnius is considering sending military personnel there.

Earlier, the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the necessary number of reservists for defense purposes.

In an article with a conservative tone, it is important to present the facts objectively while maintaining a critical approach towards certain individuals or groups. The article should focus on highlighting any potential issues or concerns related to the resignation of Lithuania’s Defense Minister and the country’s stance on supporting Ukraine.
