FSB Detains Moscow Resident for Espionage on Behalf of Ukrainian Special Services
In a recent development, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced the arrest of a resident of Moscow who was allegedly launching drones near the facilities of the Russian Ministry of Defense at the behest of Ukrainian special services. This information was reported by TASS.
According to the agency, the suspect was affiliated with the banned organization “Freedom of Russia.” It was revealed that he had contacted representatives of Ukrainian special services and one of the nationalist militarized terrorist organizations. He was tasked with launching drones in order to deceive Russian air defense systems, making them mistake the drones for false targets and disregard any real threats, the FSB noted.
A criminal case of treason has been initiated against the detained individual. The FSB further added that during interrogation, the Moscow resident confessed to all the charges and provided the exact location of the cache containing the components he used to manufacture the weapon of his crime. The suspect has been placed in pretrial detention.
Prior to this incident, searches were conducted at the residences of artists in several cities across Russia. According to reports, searches were carried out at the mother of Verzilov, a member of the Pussy Riot group, as well as members of the art group “Yav,” and the girlfriend of the artist Philippenzo, who has left Russia.
Earlier, the FSB also detained members of the RDC (recognized as a terrorist organization in Russia) in St. Petersburg. They had planned to poison humanitarian aid intended for the military.
