A shocking case of animal abuse has emerged in Florida, highlighting the horrifying treatment that some pets endure while in the care of so-called professionals. Diana Stevens, a 41-year-old groomer at a Woof Gang Bakery and Dog Grooming franchise in Sarasota, Florida, has been arrested on multiple counts of felony animal abuse and cruelty.
According to witness testimony and surveillance footage, Stevens subjected numerous cats and dogs to horrific mistreatment. In one instance, she allegedly lost her temper with a tan golden doodle who was being difficult during a bath. Stevens proceeded to punch the defenseless dog multiple times in the ribs and abdomen, all while hurling expletives at the poor creature.
The abuse didn’t stop there. Footage from August 16, 2023, shows Stevens forcefully yanking a dog by its neck, causing it to hang in the air. She then proceeded to strike the dog twice, causing it to spin around helplessly. Cats were not spared from her brutality either, as she reportedly jerked them around, flipped them over, and even tethered them, risking their necks being broken.
Witnesses have come forward, expressing concern about the well-being of their pets after visiting Stevens’ salon. Some reported that their dogs began acting differently after being groomed by her, suggesting further psychological trauma inflicted on these innocent animals.
Perhaps most disturbingly, Stevens was found to have purchased French bulldog puppies and kept them in unsanitary conditions. Tragically, one of the puppies died after being left overnight and unsupervised in a sink or bathing tub.
The Sarasota Police Department, after reviewing surveillance footage and conducting a thorough investigation, arrested Stevens on five counts of felony aggravated animal abuse and five counts of felony animal cruelty.
