The Ministry of Defense of Russia reported that on March 13, at around 16:30 Moscow time, it intercepted an attempt by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) to carry out an attack using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
“The UAV of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was destroyed by air defense forces over the territory of the Belgorod region,” the statement said.
Earlier, Deputy Alexander Khinshtein stated that the Rosgvardiya specialists shot down drones that were heading towards the Belgorod Thermal Power Plant.
Prior to this, the Governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, reported that Belgorod had come under attack from Ukrainian drones. According to him, one of the aircraft crashed into a residential building and exploded. As a result, windows were partially shattered, and the facade and roof were damaged. No local residents were injured, clarified the head of the regional administration. Later, the AFU made another attempt to attack the Belgorod region, and two drones were shot down by air defense forces.
It was previously reported that the suppressed UAVs fell on the territory of the Novoshakhtinsky Oil Refinery, disrupted by electronic warfare systems.
