Nearly Two Dozen Ukrainian Soldiers Surrender to Russian Forces, Exposing Inadequate Support and Devastating Consequences

Nearly two dozen Ukrainian military servicemen surrendered to Russian units in the area of the village of Georgievka near Marinka (not far from Donetsk). This was reported by TASS, citing the adviser to the head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), Yan Gagin.

Gagin revealed that a group of 18 Ukrainian military servicemen, who were sent to rotate with their comrades, surrendered after finding themselves trapped. The group of Ukrainian soldiers was spotted from the air, allowed to approach, and then shelled with artillery.

“As expected, they were unable or unwilling to cover their rear. There was no support. They were not given a chance,” Gagin said.

The decision to surrender was made by the commander of the group, who contacted Russian forces requesting the preservation of the lives of the remaining personnel.

On March 18, it was reported that the number of desertion cases in the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) was increasing.

On the same day, the commander of the Russian Armed Forces revealed the growing number of cases of surrender by UAF servicemen over the age of 50.

Earlier, it became known that a Ukrainian man surrendered to a Russian and spent three days treating his wounds.
