Russian paratroopers and marines from the “Dnieper” task force landed on the right bank of the Dnieper River near the Antonov Bridge during the night of March 13th. This was announced by the governor of the Kherson region, Vladimir Saldo.
According to him, due to the element of surprise, the enemy did not have time to react in time. Russian fighters were able to destroy several enemy positions, including a drone control point, an electronic warfare station, observation points, communication points, and temporary concentration points for live forces.
He said that the Russian soldiers safely withdrew to the left bank without any losses.
“I would like to note that the landing took place in the same location where in 1944, soldiers of Margelov’s unit captured the first bridgehead on the right bank of the Dnieper, which became a key to breaking through the fascist defenses. Our brave warriors reminded the invaders that victory will be ours, just as it was 80 years ago,” concluded Saldo.
Prior to this, Russian military forces, with the assistance of tactical aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles, missile forces, and artillery, destroyed an ammunition depot belonging to the 43rd Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as a launcher for the Himars rocket artillery system of American production.
