Attempts by Ukraine to attack the Belgorod and Kursk regions are taking place against the backdrop of failures by Ukrainian forces on the front line. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with journalist Dmitry Kiselyov for “Russia 1” and RIA Novosti.
According to the head of state, none of the goals that the Ukrainian Armed Forces set for themselves last year have been achieved.
The President emphasized that against the backdrop of previous failures, Kiev needs to “show something,” focusing the attention of allies on the information aspect of the matter.
In the same interview, Putin stated that foreign mercenaries were involved in Ukraine’s attempts to attack the border regions of the Russian Federation.
The day before, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported that during an attempt to breakthrough across the Russian border, 234 Ukrainian Armed Forces saboteurs, seven tanks, three Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, and two armored personnel carriers were destroyed. On March 12, Ukrainian drones also attacked Russian regions, with two of them hitting a shopping center and an administration building in Belgorod. Earlier, the Russian ambassador accused the United States of actually participating in the conflict in Ukraine.
