Washington’s New Military Aid Package for Ukraine Includes Missiles and Artillery Shells, Raises Concerns” (112 characters)

Washington intends to provide Kyiv with a new package of military aid, which will include guided missiles and artillery shells. This was announced by the assistant to the US President for National Security, Jake Sullivan, during a briefing with journalists, reported by TASS.

“On behalf of President [Joe] Biden, I announce an emergency package of military aid, including weapons and equipment worth $300 million to meet Ukraine’s urgent needs,” the official said.

The assistant to the head of state added that the country’s leadership has found a way to allocate additional funds to support Kyiv thanks to “unexpected savings” within the framework of defense contracts. This refers to agreements reached by the US Department of Defense to replenish the equipment sent to Ukraine.

At the same time, Sullivan emphasized that the new aid package will consist of a large batch of artillery shells and guided GMLRS missiles. The latter are intended for reactive multiple launch rocket systems (HIMARS).

On March 12, the Politico newspaper, citing sources, reported that the US Department of Defense has not yet received the money to replace the weapons provided to Kyiv. However, by this time, the Pentagon has supplied weapons to the combat zone, with a total value of $10 billion.

Earlier, the CIA revealed what would happen in case the US refuses to supply weapons to Ukraine, and how the conflict in Ukraine would end.
