Houthi Rebels Target American Ship in Red Sea

The Ansar Allah movement (Houthis), which rules in northern Yemen, has claimed a precise attack on the American ship Pinocchio in the Red Sea. This was reported by the Al Jazeera channel, referring to the Yemeni news agency SABA.

According to the Houthi representative Yahya Sari, the strike was accurate. Earlier, the movement warned of its intention to attack ships associated with Israel, calling on other countries to withdraw their crews and not to approach them at sea. Several shipping companies have already suspended transportation through the Red Sea.

The Houthis claimed that their actions are aimed at supporting Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and do not hinder freedom of navigation in the region. However, Arab and Muslim countries warned the United States that supporting Israel in Gaza could lead to an escalation of the conflict throughout the Middle East. After the start of bombings in Yemen by the United States and Britain, the Houthis declared their ships as military targets.

Previously, it was reported that Houthi attacks in the Red Sea have increased the demand for transit of goods to Europe through Russia. The head of the maritime logistics department at Kuehne & Nagel, Michael Oldwell, said that under the current conditions, there is “greater demand” for the delivery of goods from Asia to Europe by rail.

Earlier, the United States and Britain decided to intensify their campaign against the Houthis.
