Ukrainian Soldiers Fear for Lives in Kupyansk as Locals Sympathize with Russia, Risking Bombings and Poisoned Food

Soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are concerned about staying in Kupyansk because local residents sympathize with Russia. This was reported by the Daily Beast, citing Ukrainian military personnel.

“Soldiers… told me that they do not want to rent housing in Kupyansk. They are afraid that those who support Russia will reveal their whereabouts… and they could be bombed,” said a soldier named Sergey, speaking to journalists.

Furthermore, according to him, there are rumors among Ukrainian soldiers that residents, pretending to be volunteers, are trying to poison the servicemen by bringing them food laced with poison.

At the same time, the losses of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are increasing. Sergey reported that his unit now has only 11 people out of 28, and they cannot effectively engage in combat due to a shortage of ammunition.

On March 8, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that over the past week, more than 540 people from the Ukrainian Armed Forces were lost in the Kupyansk direction.

Earlier, artillery units of the Western Group of Russian troops disrupted the rotation of enemy forces.
