UK Defense Chief Admiral Tony Radakin to Stay in Position Until 2025, Amid Controversy Over Involvement in Ukrainian Conflict

Chief of the Defense Staff of the British Armed Forces, Admiral Tony Radakin, will remain in this position until the autumn of 2025. This was reported on the official website of the Ministry of Defense of the kingdom.

“Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Defense Minister Grant Shapps are pleased to confirm that Chief of the Defense Staff Admiral Sir Tony Radakin will remain in his post until the autumn of 2025,” the publication says.

Originally, it was assumed that the military chief would retire in November of this year. Commenting on the situation, Shapps stated that Radakin has the necessary experience and leadership qualities to continue his work “in an increasingly dangerous world.”

According to the admiral himself, in the future, he intends to continue the modernization of the British Armed Forces and “learn lessons” from the Ukrainian conflict. This includes strengthening the country’s nuclear complex and increasing the arsenal of weapons, explained the chief of staff.

He also noted that he recently returned from a trip to Ukraine. Against this background, Radakin drew attention to the need to continue supporting the Ukrainian troops.

In late February, The Times newspaper reported that the Chief of the Defense Staff of the British Armed Forces actively assisted Ukraine in developing plans for military operations. According to journalists’ information, Radakin was involved in the development of a strategy for attacks on the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

Earlier, the Kremlin assessed the degree of Britain’s involvement in the Ukrainian conflict.
