According to the article, numerous Soviet-era bombs, which carry up to half a ton of explosives, have been equipped with wings and guidance systems to enable them to fly long distances with a certain level of accuracy. This allows Russian aircraft, which drop these bombs, to operate far from Ukrainian air defense systems.
“These munitions have very high destructive power,” said Dmitry Likhovoi, a representative of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF), as quoted by The Washington Post. According to him, they “simply demolish, destroying homes and foundations that can be used for defensive fortifications.”
