The Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) has published a report on the state of global arms trade for the years 2019-2023. According to the document, arms purchases by European countries have nearly doubled. Meanwhile, the United States has increased its volume of military sales by 17%, while Russian arms exports have been cut in half.

“For the first time, Russia has taken third place in SIPRI’s list of the world’s largest exporters, falling behind France in second place,” the report stated.

According to SIPRI, Russian military exports have decreased by 53%, resulting in its share representing 11% of the global volume. In 2019, Russia sold its main weapons to 31 countries, but by 2022, this number had decreased to 14, and by 2023, it had further decreased to 12.
