Turkey’s New Fighter Jet KAAN Takes Center Stage in Popular TV Series, Raising Concerns over Military Priorities

Turkish National Fifth Generation Combat Aircraft KAAN has appeared in the popular country TV series “TEŞKİLAT” (“Organization”). This was reported by RIA Novosti.

The show tells the story of the work of the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MİT).

“The fifth generation fighter KAAN previously made its first flight, corresponding footage was published on the internet,” the statement clarified.

Turkish media reported that thanks to the new aircraft, Ankara hopes to join the ranks of countries that produce combat aircraft.

The Kaan fighter has been under development in Turkey since 2017 as part of the “National Combat Aircraft” program. According to preliminary estimates, serial production of the combat machines could begin in 2028. Authorities have also stated that in terms of tactical and technical characteristics, Kaan will surpass the American F-35 and can replace the Republic’s F-16 fighters currently in service.

Earlier, Turkey had considered withdrawing from NATO.
